The Living Room

The living room is a traveling installation rooted in nostalgia, comfort, and human connection. Inspired by the familiarity of shared gathering spaces, the work reimagines the living room as more than a physical place, it becomes an atmosphere designed to invite presence, conversation, and community.

Traditionally, the living room is where people come together to celebrate, create, listen, and simply exist alongside one another. It is a space shaped equally by art, music, storytelling, and shared experience. This installation draws from that universal feeling of comfort and transforms it into an immersive environment that can exist anywhere.

As the world grows increasingly fast-paced and fragmented, spaces that encourage genuine connection become essential. The Living Room offers an intentional pause, a place to slow down, engage with others, and reconnect with the simplicity of being present. Through familiarity and comfort, the installation creates opportunities for deeper interaction with both art and community.

Designed as a traveling experience, the installation adapts to a variety of environments while maintaining its core purpose: creating accessible, welcoming spaces where people feel invited to gather and participate. While the artwork within the space may evolve and rotate over time, the essence of the installation remains constant, fostering connection, creativity, and collective experience wherever it goes.

Conceptualized by Rachel Rowse and brought to life in collaboration with Robb Hassler, The Living Room explores new pathways for engaging with art outside of traditional settings, bringing creative experiences into spaces that feel lived-in, familiar, and alive.

Because now, more than ever, we need spaces like this.
